The Health Widget

The PolicyMap team is pleased to submit the “Health Widget” http://www.policymap.com/health-widget.html in the Design for America competition under Data Visualization: Visualizing Community Health Data.

The Health Widget allows users to see up-to-date and previous years’ information from USDA, HHS, CDC and Census in interactive maps and ranked tables. Users can easily download data into Excel and print. The iframe code for the widget is included on the page, giving anyone who wants this kind of interactive experience on their website the ability to simply copy and embed the code. As new data is released by these public sources and uploaded into the policymap platform, the widget is automatically updated. Widgets of public data, such as this, are a free service of PolicyMap.

For a few months now, we have been releasing widgets to the public. This is the first to include a rankings and data download feature, in addition to the map. This “Health Widget” is currently running off of our staging platform and will be a part of our production release next week. At that time, you’ll see the maps and rankings run even faster than they are now.
