Description

The Extraordinaries delivers micro-volunteer opportunities to mobile phones that can be done on-demand and on-the-spot.

We've created three micro-apps for crowdsourcing congressional bills: Translate, Summarize, and Comment. Using your iPhone, you can review the list of bills that were rushed through congress. This list is read live from Read The Bill's Rushed Bills RSS feed. We then get the bill from GovTrack and load it into the iPhone, where you can perform the various tasks on it, paragraph by paragraph. We'll make the resulting dataset publicly available.

So, when there's a new bill that hits the RSS feed, we (concerned citizens) can review it while we're waiting for the bus, at the airport, or waiting for a friend for dinner. We can be congress' advance reading force - while making government more accessible to citizens who speak other languages.

  • Sunlight has a *lot* of projects. Fortunately, we've also got a tool for tracking their use (& it's now open source) http://t.co/ebmtUPL6
